Dundrum

Co. Down

Four miles north of Newcastle, Dundrum is noted for its 12th century castle (+353 (0) 28 9181 1491) which boats a circular keep with irregular curtain walls, surrounded by a rock cut fosse. 

Nearby is the Murlough National Nature Reserve (+44 (0) 28 4375 1467), which covers an area of 698 acres, through which visitors can follow a path over sand dunes to Murlough Beach, one of the finest strands in the county.
