Everyone loves a real country house and this award goes to one that ticks off all the right boxes: This deliciously remote establishment is magnificently located in an unspoilt valley, surrounded by high mountains that bring the rainfall so dear to fisherfolk - it is one of Ireland’s most famous sporting lodges, large and impressive in an informal, understated way...Fishing is the main attraction, but many people come for other country pursuits, painting, or just peace and quiet: a billiard table, a well-stocked library and a serious wine list (great bottles at a very modest mark-up) can get visitors through a lot of wet days. And, all this is matched by terrific food, and outstanding hospitality too.
