Lough Owel Lodge, Mullingar, Co Westmeath

Lough Owel Lodge, Mullingar, Co Westmeath

The idea of a farm stay is heaven to many visitors to Ireland, and to families living in cities. You won’t get more homely than this beautifully located farm overlooking Lough Owel, which has been certified organic since 2011.

On arrival, you’ll pass the family’s donkeys, Sonny and Cher, in their paddock and their gentle presence sets the tone for a comfortable family home where guests feel genuinely welcome.

Don’t expect five star accommodation here, what’s special is the authentic rural experience that Martin and Aideen Ginnell offer, including their own organic produce on the table for breakfast. Aideen is a dab hand with the home baking, jams and preserves - and they are rightly proud of this fascinating lakeland area and love introducing guests to its highlights and the ‘real Ireland.’

A great place to wind down and get close to nature.
