2006 Award Winners Wine Award of the Year 2006

The French Paradox

Georgina Campbell's Wine Award of the Year 2006 - The French Paradox, Dublin 4 This is an inspired and stylish operation that has brought a new dimension (and a whiff of French chic) to the concept of wine and food in Dublin : it combines a wine shop, a large and atmospheric ground floor wine bar (where weekly wine tastings are held) and a dining room on the first floor, which is simply set up but has an irresistible charcuterie display close beside the tables. The main emphasis is on the exceptionally wide range of wines available by the glass - perhaps 65 wines, kept in perfect condition after opening, using a special wine sommelier with inert gas. Food is simple, but outstanding for quality and flavour - The French Paradox is renowned for their superb plates of charcuterie...sitting outside on a sunny summer day, sipping one of the dozens of wines available by the glass, you could be lunching in the south of France. ... The French paradox was selected for this award for their dedication to quality - and helping to make us all more adventurous with wine.
