Rhu-Gorse

Beautifully located, with stunning views over Lough Eske (and windows built to take full advantage of them), Grainne McGettigan’s modern house may not be not architecturally outstanding but it has some very special attributes, notably the warmth and hospitality of Grainne herself, and a lovely room with picture windows and a big fireplace, where guests can relax.

Bedrooms and bathrooms are all ship-shape and residents can have afternoon tea as well as breakfast, although not evening meals; however Harvey’s Point is very close (see entry), and Donegal town is only a short drive.

Animals are central to Rhu-Gorse, which is named after a much-loved pedigree dog bred by Grainne’s father-in-law (a descendant now follows her around everywhere), and one of her special interests is breeding horses: not your average B&B, but a comfortable, hospitable and very interesting base for a walking holiday or touring the area.

Rooms 3 (2 shower only, 1 family room, all no smoking); B&B €42.50 (includes afternoon tea on arrival), ss €10. Children welcome (under 3s free in parents' room). Pets allowed in some areas. Garden. Golf nearby. Closed off season. MasterCard, Visa, Laser. abbreviations
