Unlike many lesser potters, Stephen Pearce produces just two ranges of earthenware, both of which are stunningly simple and instantly recognisable - the Traditional range of terracotta pots is decorated with a creamy white glaze, and the Shanagarry black range is fused with white glaze.
They have a timeless appeal that works well with any style of décor - and the kitchen and tableware pieces provide the perfect background for beautifully simple food.
And this can be tested on site at the charming Café at Stephen Pearce, with its rustic tiles floor and traditional kitchen chairs set around sturdy wooden tables. Blackboard menus proclaim the wholesomely delicious treats of the day - along with a short wine list.
Run by chef Christine Crowley, a graduate of nearby Ballymaloe Cookery School, the cafe has earned a reputation for its tasty daytime fare including great brunches, lunch dishes with a Mediterranean and North African bias, well chosen drinks - including a short wine list, home made kombucha and Golden Bean coffee, which is roasted nearby at Ballymaloe House - and delicious home baking,
