An Old Rectory

Conveniently located near the King’s Hall, Public Records Office, Lisburn Road and Queen’s University, Mary Callan’s lovely late Victorian house is set well back from the road in mature trees, with private parking.

A former Church of Ireland rectory, it has the benefit of being in the Malone conservation area and retains many original features, including stained glass windows.

There’s a lovely drawing room with books, sofas, comfortable armchairs with cosy rugs over the arms - and a very hospitable habit of serving hot whiskey in the drawing room at 9 o’clock each night.

Accommodation is on two storeys, every room is individually decorated (and named) and each has both a desk and a sofa, magazines to browse, also beverage trays with hot chocolate and soup sachets as well as the usual tea and coffee; better still there’s a fridge on each landing with iced water and fresh milk, helpful advice on eating out locally is available (including menus) and, although they don’t do evening meals, pride is taken in providing a good breakfast with an emphasis on using organic produce where possible.

Children welcome (under 5 free in parents' room). Garden, walking. No pets. Rooms 5 (3 en-suite, 2 with private bathrooms - 2 shower only, all no smoking). B&B £37.50 pps, ss £11.50. Closed Christmas-New Year & Easter. No Credit Cards.
