An Sugan

The O'Crowley family has owned this characterful bar and restaurant since 1980: it's always been a friendly, well-run place and, although it can be very busy at times, their reputation for good food is generally well-deserved.

Menus change daily and are very strong on seafood - specialities include Union Hall smoked salmon parfait, baked crab An Sugan, and seafood basket while daily fish specials could include a choice of ten, ranging from cod on a bed of champ to lobster An Sugan (fresh lobster flamed in a brandy & tomato sauce).

If you're not in the mood for seafood you might try a terrine of the famous Clonakilty puddings or a prime Hereford sirloin steak.

Lunch menus are shorter and simpler, but also offer a wide choice of seafood - and some traditional comfort food, like bacon & cabbage.

A new private dining room is available for 2008.

No private parking. Seats 42. Food served 12-9.30 daily; L12-4.30, D 5-9.30. Set Sun L €28, Set D €30/35, also A la carte. House wine from €18. Service discretionary. Restaurant reservations advised. Closed 25/26 Dec & Good Fri. MasterCard, Visa, Laser.
