Ashley Park House

From the moment you turn off the busy Nenagh-Borrisokane road, you enter a time warp. Margaret and P J Mounsey’s home, Ashley Park, is one of those beautiful 18th century houses where all is elegance and comfort.

This old house breathes an old-fashioned order, comfort and charm, with stunning views of Lough Ourna and the distant Slieve Bloom Mountains.

You can walk down to the lakeshore or through the walled garden; the house is surrounded by 76 acres of woodland and walks are being created through it.

Whichever room you stay in, you are guaranteed a fine view, a good night’s rest, and a hearty breakfast the next morning in the splendour of the double dining room and dinner can be booked by arrangement in advance.

Recommended if you want peace and comfort in really splendid surroundings.

Directions:

On the N52, 7km (4 miles) north of Nenagh. Heading north, look for the lake on the left and go through the stone archway, past the gatehouse.
