Ba Mizu / Mimo
These two attractive sister establishments are within a whisper of each other in the lovely Powerscourt shopping centre: Mimo, in the central focal area, is more of a café-cum-champagne bar while the Bá Mizu is a fully-fledged restaurant with full bar and a small alfresco eating area on South William Street - between them, you will find just about anything you could wish for in the way of interesting, freshly-prepared food and drink throughout the day and evening. Bá Mizu offers an extensive drinks menu, including a comprehensive choice of liqueurs and cocktails (both bars have a cool aquarium built in - something of a trade mark now, as there's also one in the ceiling of the newer Ba Mizu in Howth, Co Dublin), and the restaurant - which is in an atmospheric vaulted area and stylishly furnished with comfy leather chairs - offers a wide range of food from tasty bar bites to full meals, with seafood a particular strength: pan seared fillet of organic salmon with a lemon créme fraîche, wilted spinach, fired prawn & a gazpacho dressing (EUR12.20)attracted particular praise on a recent visit. That said, there's plenty else to choose from, including great steaks - all round an in place to go for a well-priced informal meal in a cool, trendy bar.Excellent bar bites too. A shortish wine list is on the dear side, and includes several champagnes.
