Ballymascanlon House Hotel

Set in 130 acres of parkland, this hotel just north of Dundalk has developed around a large Victorian house. It has been in the Quinn family ownership since 1948 and major improvements have been completed with panache, lifting the hotel into a different class; bright and stylish public areas are furnished and decorated in a warm, comfortably contemporary style, with a homely atmosphere.

Spacious and very attractive new bedrooms share the same qualities, with specially commissioned furniture - and, in many cases, views over lovely gardens, the golf course or the attractive old stable yard.

A good breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant, which is comfortable but lacks the style of other public areas.

Corporate facilities include three versatile meeting rooms, with back-up business services available. Impressive leisure facilities include a 20-metre deck level pool and tennis courts. Special interest and off-season deals available.

Conference/banqueting (400/300). Rooms 90 (3 suites, 87 executive rooms, 51 no smoking, 1 for disabled); B&B €80 pps, ss €25. Children welcome (under 4s free in parents' room; cots available without charge, baby sitting arranged). Lift. Room service (limited hours); free broadband wi/fi. Leisure centre, swimming pool, Canadian hot tub; golf (18); garden, walking. Open all year. Amex, Diners, MasterCard, Visa, Laser. abbreviations
