This long-established neighbourhood restaurant has a devoted local clientèle who love the old-fashioned atmosphere, good French/Irish cooking and professional service.
An attractive entrance conservatory leads to a comfortable lounge/reception area, where the welcome is warm and you can choose from menus which offer a good choice of quite traditional dishes - starters like home-smoked salmon or chef’s duck & chicken liver patés, and main courses of roast farmyard duckling, steaks various ways, and fresh seafood are all typical.
This large restaurant is divided up into several comfortable dining areas, with well-spaced tables set up with fresh flowers. Everything is cooked to order, with the emphasis on flavour and wholesomeness - and professional, attentive service; all round a reassuringly old-style approach.
Vegetarians are well looked after, saucing and presentation are good, and accompaniments are carefully selected.
Sunday lunch is very popular and menus are similar in style.
