Blindgate House

Maeve Coakley's purpose-built guesthouse is set quietly in its own gardens high up over the town and, with spacious rooms, uncluttered lines and a generally modern, bright and airy atmosphere, Blindgate makes a refreshing contrast to the more traditional styles that prevail locally.

All bedrooms are carefully furnished with elegant modern simplicity, have full en-suite bathrooms and good facilities including fax/modem sockets as well as phones, satellite TV, tea/coffee trays and trouser press.

Maeve is an hospitable host - and well-known in Kinsale for her skills in the kitchen, so breakfast here is a high priority: there's a buffet displaying all sorts of good things including organic muesli, fresh fruits and juices, farmhouse cheese and yoghurts, as well as a menu of hot dishes featuring, of course, the full Irish Breakfast alongside catch of the day and other specialities - so make sure you allow time to enjoy this treat to the full.

Broadband. Children over 7 welcome (baby sitting arranged). No pets. Garden. Rooms 11 (all en-suite & no smoking, 5 ground floor, 2 for disabled); room service (all day). B&B €72.50 pps, no ss. Closed late Dec-mid Mar. Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.

Directions:

From Fishy Fishy Café: Take left up the hill, keeping left after St Multose Church. Blindgate House is after St Joseph's Primary School, on the left.
