Bodega Wine & Tapas
Formerly the Forty Foot bar and restaurant, this ultra-modern two-storey premises in the Pavilion Centre is now part of the Jay Bourke/Stephen Pile empire - of the Eden, Market Bar and Café Bar Deli fame in partnership with Thomas Read.
Experienced chefs from Eden quickly succeeded in making this one of Dun Laoghaire's most popular venues. Seating is designed to impress, with huge windows allowing views over the harbour and Dublin Bay.
The bar area has comfortable sofas around the central polished wood bar and you can eat in any part of the room, although the dining area at one end is the most comfortable option and has tables simply laid with good linen and cutlery and handsome, plain glasses.
The outdoor terrace, particularly on a warm day, is a delight. The best of the Market Bar menu has been imported: Fish Pie, with smoked salmon, coley and haddock; chorizo stew with potatoes and peppers; and calamari with lemon mayo, accompanied by a basket of bread, are typical of the colourful, tasty and good value food offered.
The tapas menu here has become the fashionable food of this area and, with attentive and well-informed staff and a pleasing ambience, it's not at all surprising that this place is so popular.
World wines are reasonably priced.
