The Brass Monkey

Part restaurant, part wine bar The Brass Monkey is offers something unique among the dining choices on Howth’s West Pier.

The small space has been transformed into a comfortable dining room with cool floor tiles and rich red walls, allowing it to be cosy by night, yet cool on summer days, when the glass front slides open to embrace the sea air. It’s a buzzy space that’s relaxed, warm and fun to dine in.

Specialising in local seafood, this Dublin Restaurants diners can also order tasty tapas like wok-fried squid with chorizo or maybe duck spring rolls.

The menu features flashes of originality, with enticing house specialities like fresh lobster & prawn ravioli, a beetroot & feta house salad, and the most perfect chocolate brownie.

A fish platter for two, comprising three kinds of fish perfectly cooked with herb butter alongside a mound of crisp chips and house salad is the perfect dish to share for around €30.

Service is friendly and chatty – as in the best neighbourhood restaurants – and the large bar serves up favourite wines, and good coffee. Innovative promotions, like good value food & wine pairing events, and creative daily specials - and like the decidedly delicious Jack Daniels chocolate chip ice cream - have established The Brass Monkey as a firm Howth favourite.
