Set on a hill overlooking the old castle ruins and the pretty inlet around Our Lady’s Island, this family run restaurant is worth a stop on the way to or from Rosslare Harbour - not only is the food good, but the views are wonderful too.
You can sit at a window table in the bright, spacious dining room, or on one of the outdoor seats, and watch the golfers while sipping a glass of wine or choosing from the tempting menu.
Seafood features strongly, as you would expect, usually including a good house chowder, and a wide variety of fish and shellfish, including mussels, calamari, smoked salmon, sea bass and cod. Seafood salad includes a generous quantity of prawns, smoked salmon and an unusual hickory smoked trout.
Homemade lasagne topped with Wexford Cheddar, steak, duckling and char-grilled chicken are the kind of non-fish meals you can expect, and there’s a vegetarian option, a children’s menu and a variety of freshly made sandwiches. A short wine list includes some quarter bottles, also bottled beer.
As well as the restaurant, there’s a good craft shop - and crazy golf and an 18-hole Par 3 golf course are part of the business, so if you have time to spare before your ferry, you could happily while away an afternoon here.
In good weather there is a trampoline and bouncing castle to keep children amused too.
