The Creel Restaurant
Frank and Julie Bennett run this attractive daytime restaurant on the harbour front - it's a pleasant, informal place with pine furniture and warm tones in the terracotta tiled floor, nautical bric-a-brac and traditional baskets used for display. There's some comfortable seating too, and magazines lying around - the idea is to make it a homely place where people can lounge about and relax awhile. An imaginative blackboard menu offers an eclectic range of hot dishes and snacks, mostly under about EUR15 - typically hot meals like lamb hotpot, chicken korma and linguine with seafood sauce, lighter dishes such as seafood chowder or chicken liver paté and light bites like toasted paninis (with brie and crispy bacon for example). Home-made desserts are temptingly displayed at the counter (where you'll also find some well-priced wines alongside the juices and mineral waters). Tasty, lively food well-cooked, pleasant service and surroundings - and good value - make this the perfect place for a daytime bite.
