Cromore Halt Inn

This friendly, family-owned guesthouse and restaurant has been managed by Niall O'Boyle and his wife Kate since it opened in 1994 and it feels like a small hotel.

It would make an equally good base for a business or leisure visit as the rooms are furnished to hotel standard in an uncluttered modern style and have all the expected facilities, including satellite television, direct dial phone with computer line, tea & coffee making, trouser press, keycard & safety deposit box - and there's a quiet first floor residents' lounge too.

The restaurant, in a large, pleasant room furnished in a relaxed informal style, is open for lunch and dinner every day, and has earned a great reputation in the locality for quality, value and good service.

Clearly written menus offer plenty of choice and are well organised by ingredient - there are no great surprises, but ingredients are carefully sourced and there is a welcome honesty of tone that translates to the plate; vegetarians get a choice of about four main courses.

Helpful, fairly priced wine list.
