The Distillers Arms

In a stylishly renovated 18th century building which was once the home of the distillery owners, Simon Clarke’s modern bar has smart modern lightwood bar stools with comfortable curved backs, comfy sofas, and table lamps lending a warm atmosphere; beyond it, the restaurant is more rustic by comparison, with open stonework and a fireplace.

As much as half of the menu could be seafood, including a speciality starter of salmon cured with Old Bushmills whiskey; main courses also offer a good choice of seafood, including a Moyle Seafood Platter with Ballycastle lobster and crab among the offerings; other good dishes may include Moycraig Wood venison, local lamb and mainstream vegetarian dishes.

Lunch (weekends) and early evening menus offer particularly good value and the wine list, which offers many bottles sourced directly from auction and sold with only a small mark up, includes a fair choice of house wines and half bottles.

Seats 80 (outdoor seating, 6, private room, 25); toilets wheelchair accessible; children welcome before 8.30pm (high chair, childrens menu). Open daily in summer, D 5.30-9 (to 9.30 Fri/Sat); L Sat & Sun 12.30-2.30; house wines from £12.95. Closed Mon-Tue off-season (Oct-Mar); 25 Dec. MasterCard, Visa, Switch.
