Durty Nelly's
Although often seriously over-crowded with tourists in summer, this famous and genuinely characterful old pub in the shadow of Bunratty Castle somehow manages to provide cheerful service and above-average food to the great numbers who pass through its doors.
All-day fare is served downstairs in the bar (all day, noon-11pm) and the Oyster Restaurant (lunch and dinner); upstairs there is a more exclusive restaurant, The Loft, open in the evening only (5.30-10pm). Both areas offer á la carte menus.
There was a change of ownership recently but, at the time of the Guide's last visit, all seemed much the same as usual.
Closed 25 Dec, Good Fri. Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.

Beside Bunratty Castle.
