Emlaghmore Lodge - Connemara

Built in 1862 as a small fishing lodge, Nicholas Tinne’s magically located house is situated halfway between Roundstone and the 18-hole links golf course at Ballyconneely, in a Special Area of Conservation.

It has been in the Tinne family for over 75 years and is quite a modest house in some ways, but it is comfortably furnished in keeping with its age. It feels gloriously remote and has its own river running through the garden with fly fishing, yet it is only a few hundred yards from sandy beaches and there are good pubs and restaurants nearby too.

Nick also cooks dinner for residents: seafood treats and local meat prevail.

Rooms 4 (2 en-suite, 1 shower only; 2 with private bathrooms, 1 single; all no smoking); B&B €75, ss €25; single room €65. Not suitable for children. Residents D, €50 at 8.30pm (please book by 10am.); house wine €15. No pets. Golf, pony trekking& windsurfing nearby. Walking, fly fishing, garden. *Self-catering cottage also available nearby. Closed Nov-Easter. MasterCard, Visa.
