The Garden Café @ Avoca
The River Vartry is the central feature of these magnificent gardens planted in the Robinsonian (informal) manner, and it’s a veritable garden of Eden where, throughout 20 acres, visitors are treated to a series of glorious prospects and to a magnificent collection of trees, plants and shrubs in sylvan settings - a place to revisit in celebration of the changing seasons.
And, although the Jay family continue to live at Mount Usher, the stewardship of these wonderful gardens was recently taken on by Avoca (see entries); despite fears that a rush of commercialisation would follow, it is widely acknowledged that the Pratt family are managing the garden with care, and that the Garden Café @ Avoca is an asset, enhancing the experience of a visit to these wonderful gardens.
Food served daily, 10am-4.30pm; B menu 10-12; L menu 12-4.30pm.
Directions:
Mount Usher gardens are in the centre of Ashford, just off the N11
