The Ground Floor Restaurant
A bright and attractive contemporary restaurant in the centre of Kells, The Ground Floor is a sister of The Loft in Navan and The Side Door in Cavan (see entries), and has much in common with them: wacky paintings and a youthful buzzy atmosphere, plus interesting, colourful food at accessible prices.
Popular dishes from around the world abound in starters like Greek feta cheese & sundried tomatoes and the House Combination, a selection of spicy wings, crispy skins, and lightly fried brie, with home-made dips, sauces & garlic bread.
Equally cosmopolitan main courses range from Caesar salads, through sizzling fajitas and chicken New Orleans to a choice of pasta dishes and steaks. Vegetarian dishes are highlighted, and gluten free options are given for some dishes - you can even get gluten free pizza on request. Interesting daily blackboard specials are often a good bet.
Consistent cooking and exceptionally pleasant and helpful staff add to the relaxed ambience.
The early dinner menu is particularly good value.
