Hayes' Bar

Hayes Bar is beautifully located overlooking the harbour and has outdoor tables - and Ada Hayes’ famous bar food.

The soup reminds you of the kind your granny used to make and the open sandwiches are stupendous. Everything that goes to make Hayes’ special - including the wines and crockery collected on Declan and Ada’s frequent trips abroad - has to be seen to be believed; their travels also affect the menu, inspiring favourites like Croque Monsieur and there’s a tapas menu, offering Manchego cheese, Serrano ham, chorizo Pamplona and so on, with fino sherry and Spanish wines and beer.

Wine is Declan’s particular passion and Hayes’ offers some unexpected treats, by the glass as well as the bottle, at refreshingly reasonable prices. Great reading too, including a lot of background on the wines in stock - and you can now see some of Declan’s paintings exhibited, from June to August.

By any standards, Hayes’ is an outstanding bar.
