Hill House

Carmel Purcell’s lovely Georgian house was built in 1710 and has great character. It is set well back from the road in large gardens, with plenty of parking and a magnificent view of the Rock of Cashel - and a welcoming hospitable atmosphere, noticeable immediately on arrival in the spacious entrance hall, which has fine Georgian features and fresh flowers.

While Carmel shows guests to one of the large rooms (some with four posters), she gives the lowdown on local attractions and settles you in; rooms are very comfortable, with television, radio and tea/coffee facilities and good bathrooms.

Breakfast is a high point, served at very nicely set up tables with good linen, baskets of freshly-baked breads and scones and home-made preserves; a side table offers fruits and cereals, and the cooked breakfasts are delicious.

Rooms 5 (all shower only & no smoking, 1 family room); B&B €40 pps, ss €10-20, single €60. Children welcome; no pets. Free broadband wi/fi. Garden, walking. Fishing (fly & sea angling), equestrian and golf nearby. MasterCard, Visa, Laser.

Directions:

2 minutes from cashel town centre; from Dublin, bear left after the turn signed Rock of Cashel - Hill House is opposite the next junction.
