The Hole in the Wall

PJ McCaffrey's remarkable pub beside the Phoenix Park is named in honour of a tradition which existed here for around a hundred years - the practice of serving drinks through a hole in the wall of the Phoenix Park to members of the army garrison stationed nearby.

Today the Hole in the Wall also claims to be the longest pub in Ireland - and it is certainly one of the most interesting. They have always offered food too - a bar menu available throughout the afternoon and evening.

There's also a wine shop in the pub.
