Horetown House

Situated in beautiful unspoilt rolling pastures about 20 minutes from Wexford town (and half an hour from Waterford), this18th century house has recently undergone extensive restoration and refurbishment. Untidy grounds and a rather bleak exterior may make a bad first impression, so a spacious, comfortable hallway, with fine reception rooms off it and a genuine period feel, will come as a pleasant surprise.

Having been thoroughly renovated, furnished and decorated with some style, the interior now offers a good level of comfort. Public rooms, which include a drawing room and a private dining room, are well furnished in period style and arriving guests are shown into a large comfortable sitting-room and made welcome with tea and homemade bonne bouches.

The ten bedrooms, which vary considerably according to their position in the house, are individually decorated rooms and named after historic figures associated with the house; accommodation includes some suites, with Jacuzzi bath and sitting room.

The Cellar restaurant offers both lunch and dinner but it would be advisable to check as, in the Guide’s experience, meals, including dinner, may instead be served in a ground floor dining room overlooking the rural landscape.

Ongoing work is being undertaken to develop a garden.
