The Old Midleton Distillery is a fascinating place to visit - that such visiting can be thirsty work is acknowledged at the door (a whiskey tasting is part of the tour) but it can also be hungry work.
Sensibly, the Centre has provided a pleasant place to eat, The Malt House Restaurant, which is a bright and airy room with its own bar.
A wide range of dishes is offered, including simple fare like traditional Irish stew and a home-made pie of the day, but there's also some lighter contemporary fare - hot panini, tortilla wraps, toasted bagels - and sandwiches made with home-made bread: Midleton beech-smoked Irish Atlantic salmon with brown soda bread and salad is an attractive option.
An appealing choice of salads include Ireland's Finest Cheese Plate (Cashel Blue, mature Cork cheddar & goats cheese), served with biscuits, pickles & fresh fruit. There are always vegetarian options and a good selection of home-bakes.
