Kylenoe House

Virginia Moeran’s lovely old stone house on 150 acres of farm and woodland offers homely comfort and real country pleasures close to Lough Derg.

The farm is home to an international stud and the woodlands are a haven for wildlife, including deer, stoats, red squirrels, badgers, rabbits and foxes as well as many varieties of birds and flowers.

With beautiful walks, riding (with or without tuition), golf and water sports available on the premises or close by, this is a real rural retreat.

Spacious, airy bedrooms are furnished in gentle country house style, with antiques and family belongings, and overlook beautiful rolling countryside; recent refurbishment has included new super-comfortable beds. Downstairs there’s a delightful guests’ sitting room and plenty of interesting reading.

Virginia enjoys cooking, her breakfasts are a speciality and dinner is available to residents by arrangement.

Importantly for people who like to travel with their dogs, this is a place where man’s best friend is also made welcome and Kylenoe was our Pet Friendly Establishment of the Year in 1999.

Rooms 3 (2 en-suite, 1 with private bathroom, all no-smoking); B&B €50 pps, ss €10; children welcome (under 8 free in parents' room; cot available free of charge, baby sitting arranged). Lift.
