A striking pub with its own fine clock over the door and an excellent corner location, this large bar has been in the O'Neill family since 1920 and is popular with Dubliners and visitors alike.
Students from Trinity and several other colleges nearby home into O'Neill's for its wide range of reasonably priced bar food, which includes a carvery with a choice of five or six roasts and an equal number of other dishes (perhaps including traditional favourites such as Irish Stew) each day; finish off with some home-made rhubarb pie, perhaps.
There is also a well-presented sandwich/salad bar.
B 10-12; Carvery 12 - 10.15 pm daily (open from 12.30 Sun); also extensive á la carte bar menu; set 3 course L €20; 2/3 course D €15/€20. Live traditional music every Mon night at 9pm. No children after 9pm. Closed 25 Dec, Good Fri. Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.
