Matt Molloy's Bar
If you had to pick one pub in this pretty town, this soothingly dark atmospheric one would do very nicely - not least because it is owned by Matt Molloy of The Chieftains, a man who clearly has respect for the real pub: no TV (and no children after 9 pm).
Musical memorabilia add to the interest, but there’s also the real thing as traditional music is a major feature in the back room - or out at the back in fine weather. Matt is often away on tour, but he’s a real local when he’s back, and takes great pride in this smashing town of Westport.
It’s worth noting that normal pub hours don’t apply, this is an afternoon into evening place, not somewhere for morning coffee.
Closed 25 Dec & Good Fri.
