Merrion Hall

This redeveloped Edwardian property opposite the RDS is one of the small group of privately owned Halpin guesthouses; handy to the DART (suburban rail), it makes a good base for business or leisure.

New rooms have recently been completed, almost doubling the original accommodation, and all rooms are comfortably furnished with period furniture (some have 4-posters), fine original windows, TV, and bathrobes - and bathrooms are well-appointed, with in-bath jacuzzi and quality cosmetics.

There's a well-stocked library, a comfortable big drawing room, and a fine, airy, spacious, basement dining room and outside patio, with tables set up in summer. In common with other Halpin establishments, good breakfasts are served here - an attractive buffet and well-presented fry.

This is a very comfortable guest house and, although some rooms are susceptible to the late night/early morning rumble of the nearby DART, and jacuzzis in neighbouring bathrooms, it runs smoothly, without any sign of pressure from the extra rooms.

*Next door, Blakes Hotel & Spa is a sister establishment.

Small conference/private parties (50/50); off-street parking at the back; garden; children welcome (under 2s free in parents' room, cots available free of charge). No pets. Drawing Room/room service menu available 7am-9pm daily; set D €20; house wine €25. Open all year. Amex, Diners, MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations
