Merrion Inn

The McCormacks are a great pub family (see separate entry for their Mounttown establishment) and this attractive contemporary pub on the main road between Dublin and Dun Laoghaire makes a handy meeting place.

It is a well-maintained and spacious place on two floors, with various quiet sections on the ground floor and an attractive covered outdoor section at the back to relax in relative peace, away from the busy bars.

Expect to find above average pub fare: a hot and cold buffet is served at lunch time and there's a well balanced dinner menu with vegetarian and gluten free dishes marked up.

This is a busy pub and everything is set up to serve large numbers efficiently, with glasses of chilled water among the extras you pick up on the way;main course choices offer quite an extensive range of popular dishes - salads, chicken dishes, omelettes, bangers & mash, several fish dishes, steaks various ways - then there are home-made desserts, which change daily.

There's a large function room with bar upstairs, and a partially covered heated patio area is available for smokers.

Seats 150 (private room, 70); toilets wheelchair accessible; children welcome before 9pm (high chair, childrens menu, baby changing facilities). Bar food served daily 12-9.30pm (L12-3, D 3.30-9.30). Buffet / à la carte. House wine €15.45. Closed 25 Dec & Good Fri. Amex, Diners, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.
