Perryville House

One of the prettiest properties in Kinsale, Philip and Laura Corcoran's characterful house on the harbour front has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard and provides excellent accommodation only 15 minutes from the Old Head of Kinsale golf links.

Although very centrally located, it has the feeling of a country house and the gracious public rooms are beautifully furnished, as if for a private home, and with Laura's displays of fresh flowers from her own garden everywhere.

Spacious, individually decorated bedrooms vary in size and outlook (ones at the front are most appealing, but the back is quieter) and all have extra large beds and thoughtful extras such as fresh flowers, complimentary mineral water, quality toiletries, robes and slippers. The suites have exceptionally luxurious bathrooms, although all are well-appointed and many have separate bath and shower.

Breakfasts include home-baked breads, Philip's own honey and local cheeses, and Perryville House is also home to a Gift Shop, stocking carefully selected and unusual gift items from Ireland and further afield, and the Garden Tea Room (see below). The Gift Shop has developed a lot since it first opened and now has a wider selection of quality gifts and a deli section offering an interesting range of Irish artisan foods - including some locally made speciality products that are not found outside the area.

Garden Tea Room

As pretty as a picture, this charming café reflects the style and quality that sums up Perryville House.

Opening onto a little courtyard garden - where there is a fountain, some beautiful white birch trees, and outdoor seating for fine weather - it's a delightful old world tea room where nothing but the best will do. A far cry from the quirky little places that have popped up all over he country, this is an elegantly furnished space where fine china, crisp linen and - as elsewhere in the house - beautiful fresh garden flowers set an adult tone of quiet relaxation.

Great home baking and top quality teas and coffees are the USPs, of course, but delicious lunches are also served, along with morning coffee and traditional afternoon tea.

A restful oasis away from the bustle of this busy town, lunch or afternoon tea at the Garden Tea Room has become a regular treat for many visitors to Kinsale.

Rooms 26 (5 junior suites, 8 superior, 3 ground floor, all no-smoking); B&B €75 pps. Not suitable for children under 12. No pets. Free broadband wi/fi. Own parking. No SC. Gift Shop Mon-Fri 9.30-5, Sat 10.30- 6. Garden Tea Room, Mon-Sat 10-5 (light L 12-3) Gift Shop & Tea Room closed Sun. House closed 1 Nov-5 Apr. Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser. abbreviations
