The Phoenix Café
Hidden away next to the Aras an Uachtaráin Visitor Centre, you'll find the Phoenix Café.
The modern building is sympathetic to the lush green surroundings and the first floor has a dramatic double height roof, floor to ceiling windows and a quirky antler chandelier.
The vast majority of ingredients are organically sourced and café fare includes a wide range of hearty quiches, soups and a daily hot special.
Salads change regularly but could include carrot with pumpkin and black onion seed, or broccoli and cauliflower, as well as leaf salads and potato salads.
Dainty cakes can include lemon drizzle cake, hummingbird cake, flourless chocolate cake and muffins, always including flour-free options.
Real care is taken in the preparation of the food and this, combined with the sylvan setting, makes The Phoenix Café a real hidden treasure.
Seats 80 inside, 70 outside. Main course with three salads €9.50, hot daily special €10.50, desserts €2.80 to €4. Lunch only, 7 days. Open Summer 10 -5, Winter 10-4. Closed 10 days over Christmas. No SC. No credit cards.
