The Readers Café at Waterstones

Offering somewhere in a bookshop where you can relax over a good cup of coffee or a tasty bite to eat makes a great deal of sense, and the café upstairs at the back of Waterstones is a great spot for taking a break while reading a book from the shop, or from a browsing selection available on the tables.

Although it may seem slightly confusing on arrival (it's a good idea to get the waiter's attention before getting settled) the food is simple, wholesome and reasonably priced - and there is some seating in the bookshop area proper, with communal tables in a pleasant room at the back.

This is one of the few places you may expect to find Dublin coddle (aah...), and the menu also features good soups and patés and a choice of sandwiches, all for €8-€10.

The service may be disorganised but for someone browsing in a bookshop time this is probably not a priority - and the good food and reasonable prices more than compensate.

A handy place to know about.

As bookshop, Mon - Sun, 9am - 7pm
