Roadford House Restaurant
Located close to the buzzy village of Doolin, Frank and Marion Sheedy's smart contemporary restaurant is an oasis of calm - a place where everything is operated in a personal and highly professional manner.
A well-maintained exterior with attractive planting and plenty of parking makes a good impression from the start, and the restaurant is comfortable, with well-chosen modern table settings hinting at the stylish cooking that Frank has in store. Marion Sheedy is a skilled hostess and offers a warm and professional welcome, setting the tone for what is to come - fine dining at very fair prices.
The menu, in the modern Irish style, emphasises the very best local food prepared in an imaginative way: superb Burren lamb and tender beef, sparkling fresh seafood (including seared scallops, perhaps), local cheese, unusual vegetarian options, seasonal vegetables, and to round off the meal, delicious desserts.
Everything comes to the table freshly cooked and in prime condition, and details, such as really good breads, are excellent - Frank Sheedy has a happy knack of choosing delightful accompaniments to his carefully sourced ingredients and he cooks with confidence and skill. You will dine in style.
The wine list is fairly short but well chosen to match the food, and keenly priced.
