Skibbereen Food and Wine Market

Charlie Costelloe’s appealing delicatessen, wine shop and café beside the Heritage Centre is just the kind of place that holidaymakers visiting the area need to know about.

There are a couple of tables for on-site consumption, and a great choice of freshly prepared dishes from the deli, ranging from soups and starters (smoked salmon salad with Arbutus soda bread, or local duck egg mayo with mixed leaves for example) to bakes and quiches (Gubbeen chorizo and mature cheese bake with coriander and courgette, perhaps, or spinach, courgette & Gabriel cheese quiche) to meals like beef & Guinness stew or Spanish seafood stew.

As well as food from the shop display, bulk orders are taken for 8 portions or more - ideal for evening meals in a holiday cottage – and they supply canapés for parties too. Wines offered include some unusual bottles – organic perhaps – and Wines of the Month, which are a real bargain at only €8.50; aside from the wines in stock, fine wines can be ordered (list available).
