The Snug

Maurice and Colette O’Donovans’ well-named bar is a cosy and welcoming place, bustling with life and ideal for a wholesome bite at moderate prices. Maurice is the chef and takes pride in using local produce and giving value for money; his menus feature a wide range of popular dishes, many of which are in the house style.

At lunch time, home-made soups and favourites like deep-fried mushrooms with garlic mayonnaise top the bill and are followed by a range of open sandwiches, panini, baguettes and fourly baps and specials such as roast lamb or goujons of fresh haddock.

More extensive evening menus offer dressier dishes as well, including starters like Bantry Bay prawn cocktail or oak smoked salmon salad, and a good choice of main courses including steaks, home-made beefburgers and local Skeaghamore duck with orange sauce as well as a number of fish dishes - including Bantry Bay mussels, of course.

This wholesome fare, together with good value, keeps ’em coming back for more.

Children welcome (but not after 9pm). Food served daily, 11am-9pm (Sun 12.30-9). Closed 25 Dec & Good Fri. MasterCard, Visa, Laser
