Simon Shaw’s bright, friendly and informal restaurant is now well over a decade in business - and consistently excellent food, varied menus, a good atmosphere and fair prices are the secret of his success.

Lively lunch and sandwich menus are offered, based on the quality ingredients which have always been the building blocks of his cooking, and he seeks out interesting produce from trusted suppliers like Helen’s Bay Organics, McKee’s Farm (beef) and Finnebrogue (venison); vegetarians do well here, too, with interesting choices on the regular menus as well as a separate vegetarian menu.

Menus are refreshingly down to earth and keenly priced, and the cooking never disappoints.

The wine list is not very informative (no tasting notes) but is well chosen and good value.
