Dating back to 1960, when Senator Feargal Quinn first started the supermarket era in Ireland, Superquinn may no longer be family owned, but this chain of 23 stores specialises in fresh food and – unlike most other supermarket chains currently operating in Ireland - it demonstrates a commitment to local producers: “4 out of every 5 euro we spend is on fresh produce from local suppliers”.
And, while competitively priced, products offered are not exclusively price-led; the SQ Superior Quality range, for example, is just that – endorsed, among other accolades, by an IFWG Award in 2008, for their Superior Quality Irish rib-eye dry-aged Hereford beef.
