Teach de Broc

You don’t have to play golf to appreciate this highly popular guesthouse, but it certainly must help as it is almost within the boundaries of the famous Ballybunion links.

Aoife and Seamus Brock offer an extremely high standard of comfort, and there is a commitment to constant upgrading and improvement.

An electric massage chair is available for easing golfers’ aches and pains after a long day on the links and - should encouragement be needed - wine & coffee bar and a large, stylish, comfortably furnished and very spacious guest lounge are a positive encouragement to guests to stay in and relax.

The bedrooms are also spacious and well-equipped (including satellite television in all rooms), and have good bathrooms.

Yet, however comfortable and well-located this exceptional guesthouse may be, it’s the laid-back and genuinely hospitable atmosphere created by this energetic and dedicated couple that really gets them coming back for more.

Always keen to provide the best possible service for the discerning golfer, an excellent breakfast is served from 6am, with freshly baked scones and croissants among the good things offered.

*Stay & Play golf breaks offered; details on application.

Rooms 14 (all en-suite, 4 with separate bath & shower, 2 shower only, all no-smoking, 1 for disabled); free broadband wi/fi; not suitable for children.

B&B €60-70pps, ss €20. Masseuse on call; laundry service; horse riding nearby; own parking; garden; no pets. Lift. Turndown service. All day room service. Closed 1 Nov - 15 Mar.

Strollers Bistro:

The wine bar idea, originally intended to offer just a light bite, has developed a little each year and there is now a fully-fledged restaurant offering a one-, two-, or three-course early dinner, which is very good value, and also an appealing à la carte menu.

The choice is wide, with starters ranging from creamy seafood chowder to a sophisticated smoked salmon & horseradish terrine wrapped in nori seaweed. Main courses include good vegetarian and seafood choices (including pan seared scallops, and the Strollers seafood platter) and meat dishes such as rack of Kerry lamb as well as the various chargrilled steaks that are de rigeur for golfers, while pasta, risotto and pizza menus offer lighter alternatives.

Home-made desserts may include ever-popular Chocolate Nemesis, and there's an Irish cheese plate served with plum chutney.  On fine evenings you can take your coffee out to a paved outside seating area beside the bar, where there is an open stove.

The wine list is well chosen to match the menu.

Service, as elsewhere is delightful – professional, yet very warm and friendly.

Strollers : Seats 40. D daily, 5-10pm; Sun 3-8pm. 1/2/3-course early D €14.95/19.95/24.95; also à la carte. House wine from €20; air conditioning; SC discretionary. MasterCard, Visa, Laser. Heli-pad.
