Teach de Broc

You don’t have to play golf to appreciate this highly popular guesthouse, but it certainly must help as it is almost within the boundaries of the famous Ballybunion links.

Aoife and Seamus Brock offer an extremely high standard of comfort, with satellite television in all rooms, and there is a commitment to constant upgrading and improvement: fairly recent additions include a new guest lounge and a wine/coffee bar, more fine bedrooms, and an electric massage chair for easing golfers’ aches and pains after a long day on the links.

Yet, however comfortable and well-located this exceptional guesthouse may be, it’s the laid-back and genuinely hospitable atmosphere created by this energetic and dedicated couple that really gets them coming back for more.

Always keen to provide the best possible service for the discerning golfer, an excellent breakfast is served from 6am, with freshly baked scones and croissants among the good things offered.

Strollers Bistro:

The wine bar idea, originally intended to offer just a light bite, has developed a little each year and it is now a fully-fledged restaurant offering an appealing à la carte menu.

The choice is wide, with starters ranging from creamy seafood chowder to a sophisticated terrine of duck foie gras with brioche, frisée and beetroot relish, and main courses that include good vegetarian and seafood choices (including whole pan-fried black sole, and maybe even lobster if you’re lucky) and meat dishes such as rack of Kerry lamb as well as the various chargrilled steaks that are de rigeur for golfers.

Home-made desserts may include a speciality pecan pie, and you can take your coffee out to the new outside seating area beside the bar, where there is an open stove.

The wine list has also grown and is well chosen to match the menu.

Service, as elsewhere is delightful – professional, yet very warm and friendly.
