The atmosphere at this friendly little Chinese/Thai restaurant on the main drag through Fermoy is cheerful and happy, with tin squeaky Thai music grating along in the background and a lovely welcome by little girls dressed in traditional pyjama-style outfits.

A portrait of the Thai Royal family is given pride of place, alongside paintings of elephants and gods, lots of lanterns and tassels and lowish lighting all make for a real Thai atmosphere.

There's nothing fancy about the tables settings - laminated black wood tables are neatly set up with wicker/grass mats - but this is a reasonably priced restaurant and makes a good place to stop into for a bite to eat en route or from the office, or for a family outing - and they go easy on the spicing so it will suit everyone.

Service is quick, and the food is hot, nicely presented and generous rice or chips are offered and there'll be no need to ask for extra.

There's an A la carte with the familiar numbered items, and a short 'Early Bird' which is especially good value at €19 - for this you'll get crowd pleasers like vegetable spring rolls, prawn toast with dipping sauce, main courses like pork in bean sauce or vegetable stir fry and maybe ice cream to finish.

Everything is nicely prepared by people from Thailand - for people in Fermoy: authentic, yes, but sensibly tailored to the local market.
