Toberphelim House

Dan and Mary Smyth’s Georgian farmhouse is on a rise about half a mile off the road, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Very much a working farm, it is an hospitable, easy-going place.

There’s a guests’ sitting room and three bedrooms: two en-suite (shower) with a single and double bed in each and one twin room with a separate private bathroom, all are comfortably furnished and well-maintained.

Always improving, the Smyths gave the house a facelift for their 25th wedding anniversary a year or two ago - solid mahogany interior doors, re-tiling the bath and shower-rooms, re-painting the hall, stairs and landing - and an ongoing programme of maintenance continues.

Families are welcome and light meals and snacks can usually be arranged.

Rooms 2 (en-suite shower only, all no smoking). B&B €50 pps, ss €5. Minimum stay 2 nights; prior booking advisable. Children welcome. Garden, walking. No pets. Closed 20 Sep-1 May. No credit cards.

Directions:

From N4 take the N55 at the Cavan end of Granard, turn off at the Top petrol station taking a right at the next junction. The house is situated about a km towards Abbeylara, to the left.
