Woodenbridge Hotel
This pleasant country hotel lays claim to the title of Ireland’s oldest hotel, with a history going back to 1608, when it was first licensed as a coaching inn on the old Dublin-Wexford highway - and later came to prominence when gold and copper were mined in the locality.
Today, it is very popular for weddings and golf, and makes a friendly and relaxing base for a visit to this beautiful part of County Wicklow. Older bedrooms in the hotel have all been refurbished and are comfortably furnished, and many of them overlook Woodenbridge golf course; Woodenbridge Lodge offers forty newer en-suite rooms overlooking the River Aughrim.
As well as a more formal restaurant, food – possibly including some fine old traditional Irish dishes in honour of the hotel’s 400th anniversary - is available in the lively bar (traditional Irish music in summer).
*Golf breaks are a speciality and discounted green fees are offered on a number of local golf courses, with other activities for non-golfing partners if required.
