Ballina Salmon Festival - Co Mayo

Sunday 10th - Sunday 17th July 2011

Ballina Salmon Festival is Ireland's premier family-orientated festival giving thousands of people, a week of fun-filled artistic and cultural events catering for all age groups.

There are various children's workshops and art competitions, puppet shows, treasure hunts, pedal cart grand prix, teenage gladiators and science and engineering workshops. There is fishing, swimming, disco dancing, indoor soccer blitz, a fun sports day, and a wide range of other fun events.

One of the highlights of the festival is the now well-established Triathlon which attracts competitors from all over Ireland.

Lady of the Moy is a night of glitz and glamour, a night not to be missed.

There are historical walking tours which include visits to historical sites, from pre history through the centuries - The Patrician era, the Medieval era, the French connection, the famine, the land league and War of Independence - modern Ballina.

There is the hughly popular "Mayo's Got Talent" which brings out the local talent in force, the Town & Country hoedown, opening night concert, tea dance, hip hop dance workshop, heritage day and Irish Night, to name but a few.

This year, the very popular Teddy Bears Picnic traditionally held on the first Monday, has been moved to the last Sunday of the festival.
