West Cork Literary Festival - Co Cork

The West Cork Literary Festival welcomes leading Irish and international poets, novelists, playwrights and journalists to Bantry for an extensive programme of literary events and readings.This is the festival for established and aspiring writers who wish to improve their skills. The core of the festival is the programme of workshops taking place in Ardscoil Phobal.
These workshops include fiction with novelist John Boyne who wrote the acclaimed Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, memoir with Hugo Hamilton and crime writing with Eoin McNamee. Hazel Orme will take the publishing workshop.
There are free readings in Bantry Bookshop, Bantry Library and the Mariner Restaurant. Afternoon seminars and main evening readings take place in the Maritime Hotel. Late night bedtime story sessions give people the chance to read their own work to a small audience.
The Fish Anthology will be launched during the week in St Brendan's Church. The children's events within the festival include children's workshops and readings.
