West Cork Literary Festival - Co Cork

Sunday 8th - Saturday 14th July 2012

The West Cork Literary Festival welcomes leading Irish and international poets, novelists, playwrights and journalists to Bantry for an extensive programme of literary events and readings.

This is the festival for established and aspiring writers who wish to improve their skills. The core of the festival is the programme of workshops taking place in Ardscoil Phobal.

In previous years these workshops have included fiction with novelist John Boyne who wrote the acclaimed Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, memoir with Hugo Hamilton and crime writing with Eoin McNamee.

There are free readings in Bantry Bookshop, Bantry Library and the Mariner Restaurant. Afternoon seminars and main evening readings take place in the Maritime Hotel. Late night bedtime story sessions give people the chance to read their own work to a small audience.

The children's events within the festival include children's workshops and readings.
