Coleraine, Co. Londonderry

Situated on the wide River Bann, this market and manufacturing town has increased in importance over the years due to the University of Ulster opening a campus in 1968. 

Coleraine has a lot to offer visitors in terms of historic places of interest.  Mountsandel Fort and Mesolithic site produced 13th Century pottery after excavations and St Patrick’s Church in the centre of the town is on the original site of St Patrick’s foundations dating from the 15th Century.

Visitors will enjoy scenic walks through Downhill Wood, a mixed conifer wood around a lake, Somerset Wood, with both walking and jogging trails and Springwell Forest (0044 28 70 762 547). 

Coleraine is home to the world’s largest collection of daffodils at the Wilson daffodil garden centre (0044 28 70 344 141), with over 1800 varieties.
