Belle Isle Castle

Situated in idyllic countryside on an island, in the heart of the Fermanagh Lakelands, Belle Isle Castle has magical lake views; the original castle dates back to 1680 with mid-19th century additions and, for a naturally romantic venue, this would take some beating.

The castle itself has a delightfully exclusive away-from-it-all country house atmosphere and is impressively furnished with antiques, striking paintings and dramatic colour schemes (the work of internationally renowned interior designer, David Hicks); in addition to the eight romantic bedrooms, which all have their special character, guests have use of a magnificent drawing room and also the Grand Hall, complete with minstrels’ gallery, where dinner is served - the perfect setting for an exclusive small wedding.

There are churches of several denominations within a few miles but the wedding ceremony can also be held here and costs £1,000; Belle Isle can offer a list of ministers in the area, but the minister, priest or registrar must be booked directly through the bride and groom.

This wedding venues available for exclusive use, with some restrictions: no evening guests are permitted, a pianist/musicians can be arranged but no music is allowed in the dining room after 10pm, and there is no formal bar - guests can help themselves as in a country house, or have waiter service.

There is a selection of menus to choose from (special dietary needs can be accommodated), and flowers can be provided by arrangement. Accommodation on site is enough for all 60 guests if required - in addition to the eight castle rooms, there’s a converted courtyard and coach house, plus three cottages on the estate.

Staying here should be a treat as there is so much to do in this beautiful area.
