The g hotel

An unimpressive facade gives no indication of the g’s stunning interior: Philip Treacy, given carte blanche to indulge his quirky creativity by owner, Galwayman, Gerry Barrett, has given the western capital a stunning 5 star hotel.

Eyecatching colour combinations, lighting, furniture, carpets, fireplaces make the public rooms both comfortable and delightfully varied. What might have been an intimidating, (all black), lobby and reception area is cleverly enlivened by a wall-mounted exotic fish tank featuring the strangest creatures: sea horses, born and bred in Connemara. The Matz restaurant offers refined international hotel cuisine with Irish and Italian undertones.

This wedding venues receptions are held in The Event Suite, designed by Philip Treacy - flowers and candles set the ambience - and the g will assist with all aspects of wedding planning, including special menus that can be tailored with the head chef.

Nearby churches include Galway Cathedral, and St Patrick’s Garrison Church, at Renmore Army Barracks, and Wedding Blessings and Civil ceremonies can be held in the hotel.
